I'M BACK!!!

It's show time at the CHILDREN'S THEATER OF WELLINGTON which means my life has been consumed by all things acting this last month. And writing. And directing. REMOTE CONTROL is a ton of fun. Imagine a magic remote, and the chaos that ensues when a brother and sister use it against each other and bring their favorite T.V. characters into their living room. Throw in a gorilla with a belly ache and you get the picture.

Any of you into acting? What shows have you been in? What shows would you like to be in? Got any great ideas for a play? (I'm always looking for fresh material!)

Speaking of acting, I just heard that Walden Media is making THE MAGICIAN'S NEPHEW by C.S. Lewis! I can't wait to see how they bring the book to life. It's my second favorite Chronicle of Narnia, right behind THE DAWN TREADER. And speaking of THE DAWN TREADER, did you see the movie? How do you think it compared to the book?

  1. REMOTE CONTROL sounds fabulous, Michelle! I did a little acting with a local troup when I was a kid. When the teen years hit, well...my inner shyness set in. I do miss it sometimes.

  2. Thanks, Amanda! The show opens on Friday, and I hope the audience has as much fun watching as we've had putting it together. I LOVE working with kids and seeing them throw themselves into their parts, zany as they may be.

I, too, was an extremely shy kid. I loved acting because I could pretend to be someone else. I guess that's why I love writing!

  4. The visuals of DAWN TREADER blew me away. I loved Eustace - he was perfect. I choked up at the end knowing the last time they return to Narnia is at the end. I'm dancing a jig to hear MAGICIAN'S NEPHEW is going to see the light of day. Can't wait to see the rings and the pools.

I was in my first show at 9, and my last at 19. The lure of theatre design stole me away from the stage.

  5. Mikey322, would you be willing to do a guest review of THE KINGDOM KEEPERS when you're done reading it?

Leslie, I SO agree about DAWN TREADER! Eustace was FABULOUS, and I especially loved Repicheep in this movie. I can't wait to see how they handle Narnia being created in MAGICIAN'S NEPHEW, or who plays the magician.

So, I'm not the only one to be lured off the stage by another creative force. For me it's writing and directing, though. It's so amazing to see what kids bring to a show you've written. As much as I love directing, I've sure missed my writing time this last six weeks!
